Tottenham Hotspur are currently in 5th place in the Premierleague table on level points with Liverpool, who are in 4th place. There battle for 4th place has heated up between these 2 teams and Everton who are 1 point behind them.
Tottenham have been struggling at the start of the season when Andre Villas Boas was their manager. However, AVB was sacked a couple of weeks ago and Tim Sherwood took over. The team has been transformed since then and Tottenham have been playing very good football. They won 5 out of their last 6 matches, including away wins at Man United, Southampton and Swansea and a pair of dominating home wins with clean sheets vs Crystal Palace and Stoke. They drew at home vs West Brom where they dominated possession and shots on goal, but were a bit unlucky. Emmanuel Adebayor has been revived under the "Sherwood era" and has been playing great. Eriksen has also been shining lately.
Manchester City are also in great form lately. They are 2nd in the league, 1 point behind Arsenal and 1 point ahead of Chelsea. Their home form is incredible, winning all 11 games so far, scoring 42 goals in the process. At the Etihad stadium, they often look unbeatable.
However, Man City's away form is nowhere near the level of their home form. Their away record stands at 5 wins 2 draws and 4 defeats. Their much feared goal scoring ability has not been shown in away games, where they scored 21 goals, pretty much the average amongst the top 6 teams and conceded 17. On the away table, they are placed 7th.
After a very poor start in their away games, it may seem like they fixed their problems with their away form having one 4 of their last 6. However, this is a bit misleading as their wins came against Newcastle, Swansea, Fulham and WBA - teams who were in poor form. The 2 matches they didn't win were a draw vs Southampton, where Southampton were the better team and looked more likely to win, and a loss to Sunderland, whose form is far from great.
In this fixture over the last 6 seasons, Tottenham won 4 of them, including a 3-1 win last year while Man City won once. Man City are big favourites to win the match, but considering Spur's great form as well as Man City's questionable form away from home, Spurs are great value in this match, especially in the AH market. Man City have this aura of an unbeatable side because of their home games which skew the bookmakers odds in their favour.
