Trapani vs Padova by JerryDrake

Trapani are doing well in Serie B: with 30 points they are very close to the playoffs zone and they are undefeated since 8 rounds where they have beaten Novara, Juve Stabia, Virtus Lanciano, Ternana and Crotone and drawn against Cittadella, Avellino and Brescia. To find their last defeat we have to go back to November when they lost 0-3 in Palermo, the leading team of the league.

There between they lost also in Coppa Italia but they played a good game at San Siro Stadium against Inter 2-3 and they also played with many reserves. Their striker Matteo Mancosu already scored 14 goals in 20 appearances. In his two previous seasons he started scoring with Vigor Lamezia (Lega Pro 2, 39/20) and then he continued with Trapani in Lega Pro 1 31/16. The team seems to be very solid and have a good home balance (4-4-2, 13/8) whereas their only home defeats happened in September and at the beginning of November. Long time ago.

On the other side Padova won only once in the last 9 games and their away balance is more than negative: 1-1-8, 7/16. Padova coach Bortolo Mutti wants to keep his job and he will start with 3 new players in the starting eleven (Improta, Moretti and Almici) while Kelic and Nocchi should sit on the bench. The point is that I am not sure that the team wants to continue with this coach, as I have read in some Italian newspapers.

I see to much difference between these two teams. Padova will miss again defender Modesto, he played in Serie A with Bologna, Genoa, Parma and Pescara in the last seasons, then Feczesin, Jelenic. Raimondi has moved to Trapani, Elia Legati to Carpi, Trevisan and Perna have not been called up while Osuji is doubt. The club is also planning to sell Cuffa (16/1). Moreover, some other players will soon have to leave the team and I doubt that they will be motivated in such a confused situation.

I bet on Trapani to win with the help of his best striker, Mancosu and undertake some teams in the playoffs zone. Correct score: 2-1.

Great! Thank you for a wonderful analysis!

I was wondering why Padova still have so much trust from bookmakers. Padova players were not happy with the coach's defensivism and asked him more times to try playing more offensive, with three strikers. As he was risking an internal crisis he accepted it. So, attention, dont bet high stakes on this. I will search for more news later.

@JerryDrake, Trapani have won in the last 2 H2H, i don't think they'll win again today... Just my feeling...

@informatico: yes, I also fear it. I have ready many articles and interviews yesterday and it is surprising to me how trainers or managers of teams in good positions (example: Avellino) are already stating things like "it will be another league after one month break" or "hopefully we will avoid relegation, many teams signed many new players" when they could fight without problems for a promotion. When I see Novara's odds dropping down even without striker Rubino, I cant understand it. Serie A and Serie B should have max. 18 teams, there should be no empty place in the table, until the las

@ Plies: good luck for your combo. I will bet a combo on Serie A.

Jerry, I totally agree with your reply to informatico.
As for today's game, the home team should be a huge favorite against bottom feeders, Padova, and yet my book only pays +111 for a Trapani win...I smell a trap!
