Cagliari vs Milan by JerryDrake
No matter what will happen tonight in Coppa Italia (Milan - Udinese), Milan have to climb back to the high part of the table in Serie A. It is true that they will play in Champions League and that they can qualify to next Europa League by winning the Italian Cup or reaching the final (under the condition that Napoli or Roma will be the winner and that the winning team will be in the top three of the league) although it always surprised me in these last ten years to see how Italian teams struggle to qualify to Europa League and see then the same qualified teams playing in this tournament with B teams like it often happened with Udinese, Lazio and others.
As Italy is experiencing a big financial and structural crisis now even the Europa League has become important, funny destiny for my Italian football. Another reason is probably the fact that teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are still too far away from the level of the Italian teams. This is also the reason why I was not surprised when Juventus failed to defeat Galatasaray at home and Copenhagen in Denmark, they surely prefer a Europa League final in Turin as an elimination from the top teams in the quarter finals.
Back to Cagliari: As I wrote before, Ibarbo and Pinilla will miss this match for suspension while Nené is still injured. But we shall not forget that the key player is also missing. I am writing about Radja Nainggolan who has been signed by Roma and yesterday played a good game against Juventus. Cagliari will miss him a lot in the next rounds in my opinion.
On the Milan side the good news is the return of Abate in the list of the available players. Abate will give an important alternative in the defense to Emanuelson and De Sciglio. Japanese player Honda will probably not play more than half an hour tonight with Udinese and he will be fresh for Cagliari.
As usual Cagliari will not have the complete availability of their home stadium. I am sure that as soon as they will have the opportunity to play again in front of all their fans they will start being the team they used to be: almost unbeatable at home. I predict a 2-0 win for Milan.
