Livorno occupy last place in Serie A with only 13 points together with Catania and with only one victory obtained in the last 15 games. On Saturday they will host Parma. Donadoni's team (23 points) won against Torino and is in a good run as they never lost a single game in the last seven games. They will now have to defeat a negative tradition as Parma has never won in Livorno in all games played in their history in Serie A, Serie B and Serie C (now Lega Pro 1).

It will be a difficult task for Parma for many reasons. Because Livorno need to win or at least obtain one point, because Parma will have to prepare also the Italian Cup's fixture against Lazio and because Livorno played a good game in Florence. They lost 1-0 but the game remained open to other results until the last minute with good goal chances created by Paulinho, Benassi and Mbaye all saved by Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto. In their last home games played before the Christmas break Livorno lost 0-2 against Juventus and conceded both goals only in the second half, drew 2-2 against Milan with Balotelli scoring at minute 83 and lost 1-2 to Udinese.

If we look only at the technical skills, no doubts - Parma is a much better team than Livorno. Mirante is a good goalkeeper, defenders like Paletta and Lucarelli are used to run upfront and score some goals every season, Biabiany and Cassano are good scorers and provide many score chances to their team mates. Sansone is a good striker, while Parolo is a very skilled midfield player who could be one of the 23 National players to play in the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

Even so, when betting on Serie A games, one must always remember that every single match is influenced by the table and points. It happens very often to see a team winning by two or more goals in a game and then lose the next fixture. Above all when the tournament starts again after a long break and some players can easily get tired.

I see Parma as a team capable to defeat the best Serie A teams also on the road. But probably this is the main point. Parma technical players are motivated and find a lot of space in their away games against teams like Napoli, Fiorentina or Inter. But they suffer the so called "provinciali", the teams which fight against relegation in the last places of the table. If Livorno will play with the same personality they have shown in Florence, they can get a good result. I see good value on Livorno.
