Leverkusen vs Manchester Utd by 20legend

Leverkusen is one point behind Manchester United in Group A when two games remain. The Germans has won both of their home games against Real Sociedad and Shakthar Donetsk, while their only loss came against today’s opponent in an amazing game at Old Trafford (2-4). They won against 8th placed Hertha Berlin (0-1) away from home last weekend and they are also 2nd in the Bundesliga with a stron 10-1-2 in total. Leverkusen has only given up points at home against the league leaders Bayern Munchen (1-1) as they have got a 6-1-0 record at BayArena. It is only one player missing from the Sami Hyypia’s squad tonight as Sidney Sam is injured.

Manchester United has taken charge in Group A as they are on the top with eight points of their four games. They have only got two draws from their two away games in the CL so far against Shaktar Donetsk and Real Sociedad, but they are undefeated in their last ten games, including domestic league, cup and CL. They got a terrible blow with the two points lost against Cardiff (2-2) last Sunday, but they have at least covered some gap to the top teams, as they beat Arsenal (1-0) almost two weeks ago. They are in 6th position with 6-3-3 in total. Marouane Fellaini is suspended, while Nemanja Vidic and Robin van Persie are both injured and left back in England. In addition they miss Phil Jones, Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick.

Four of the players from the last meeting at Old Trafford is missing for Untied tonight (Fellaini, Carrick, Vidic and RVP). They managed to take off the pressure at home, but it will be a lot tougher tonight. I think that Manchester United will not be too disappointed with a draw tonight, considering their current situation, and as it will be enough to keep the 1st spot in the group. Leverkusen will give all their best right from the start in order to surprise United and try to grab the 1st place. Manchester United does struggle with getting three points away from home at the moment, as the games against Cardiff (2-2), Real Sociedad (0-0) and Shaktar Donetsk (1-1) are good examples that sum up the point. It will be a close game for sure, but Leverksuen got two goals at Old Trafford and know that this is their moment if they want to beat Manchester United. I therefore chose to pick Bayer Leverkusen to score an early goal in the first half, as I believe they will go all out to score and have the initiative at home, while Manchester United maybe will not be that aggressive in terms of getting the point that is needed for staying at the top of the group.

The possibility of a draw is clear in this fixture and is an option or even under 2,5 goals seems like another option. However, I chose Bayer Leverkusen to score in the first half and go for all three points from the very first minute.pin
