Hertha vs Schalke by 20legend

Hertha
VS
Schalke
Hertha Berlin has started off very well this season with a 4-3-3 form and 15 points, which puts them up in 5th place, one of the European positions. They are also one point behind the 4th place which currently belongs to Borussia Moenchengladbach and gives a CL qualification ticket. With Gladbach’s tough away game against Hamburg today, Hertha Berlin could take the 4th place if they win here and they are lucky to meet Schalke at this moment in the season.

Hertha Berlin has no big worries in terms of important injuries as only Alexander Baumjohan while their co-topscorer Sami Allagui (10/5) will be back in the lineup from start to replace Tolga Cigerci (4/0) on the right wing.

Schalke has been struggling a lot with injured players and they are still bothered by the same problem. In the light of those issues, they have done quite good with a 7th place and 14 points after 4-2-4 so far. They are also in the CL and have the second place there so far with the same amount of points as 1st placed Chelsea. Schalke was on a good row with two straight victories before losing the Revierderby against Borussia Drotmund (1-3) last weekend. However, things could have been different as Kevin Prince Boateng missed a penalty in the second half when Dortmund led 0-1.

The two biggest blows in the Schalke team are without doubt Striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar (2/2) and midfielder Marco Höger (7/2) who both are out with a long term injury. Höger will miss all season with his ligament injury. Max Meyer (7/3), Anthony Annan (0/0) and Chinedu Obasi (0/0) are still day-to-day and doubtful. Kyriakos Papadopoulos (0/0) is back in training while Jefferson Farfan (6/1) is out until at least mid-November with his hamstring problems. Kevin Prince Boateng (6/3) is doubtful with his recurring knee injury, but is expected to start against his former team.

Both teams want the three points as they need to cope with the other teams that fight for the top 5 places in Bundesliga. Hertha Berlin has a very strong 4-0-1 and strongly 11:3 on goal difference at home this year. Schalke usually create chances also on the road with 2-1-2 and 10:11on goal difference. If they chose to start Kevin Prince Boateng it is very likely to score goals here, but also without him they should score, as Schalke historically are comfortable playing against today’s opponent. Hertha Berlin has not beat Schalke since 2006, and the meetings since then has ended with 8-1-0 in Schalke’s favor. They shall compete in a very tough game against Chelsea at Stamford Brigde next week, but in their position I doubt that they will hold something back today. Hertha Berlin is especially strong at home this season, but I still think both teams would get their chances here and I pick both teams to score.
