Poland vs Scotland by 20legend

Poland started of quite bad as they lost to huge favorites Sweden (2-0) back in September 21st. Although they managed a 0-0 draw until the second half started, a 52nd minute goal lead to another goal after 66 minutes, giving Sweden their three expected points against Poland. Poland’s second game went much better, which was also highly expected, with a victory against the weakest team in the Group 4; Faraoe Island (6-0). It was a game where the polish girls lead by 4-0 already at half-time which meant that they could ease off a bit during the second half, and adding two quite late goals in the second half to make it 6-0. Now they are taking on the leaders of the Group 4, as Scotland pays them a visit ready to win another game in the qualification.

Scotland is leading by miles in this group so far. They have 9 points after their three games against Faroe Islands (2-7), Bosnia (7-0) and Northern Ireland (2-0) quite recently. The scores says it all as the Scottish girls have 16-2 on goal difference which is totally superior in the group as the next best goal difference is Poland with 6-2 and Sweden with 3-0.

There is no doubt that Scotland will be the favorites here today, but the question is how they will perform away from home. Their coach Anna Signeul has studied Poland during their recent friendly against France which they lost 6-0. She means that Poland due have some quick and technical players up front, but they huge lack of defensive organizing and communication is their clear Achilles heel. She points out that this is what Scotland wants to take advantage of and continue their scoring machinery to take four victories in a row, and looking to defend as little as possible. Their victory against Northern Ireland was a hard fought win in the end, but Poland will definitely be more attacking team than the northern Irish girls was. That could give Scotland more space to play their game, but it also mean that both teams are offensive minded here.

It is difficult to say if Scotland will get it as easy as in previous games here, but I think that we will see quite a few goals here. Either if Scotland can dominate or if Poland are up for it and scores an early goal at home, I consider over 1,5 goal at half time as a good pick. Scotland has scored after 3, 7 and 8 minutes in their past three games, and I certainly think that they will give it all from the start here as well. I also think that Poland will try to answer Scotland’s offense with their attacking play, and it could lead to a goal for them, or that Scotland gets more space in order to score another one. However, I see a great value in over 1,5 goals at half-time today.
