Eintracht Frankfurt vs Maccabi Tel-Aviv by 20legend
Eintracht Frankfurt has been fantastic during their first two european matches this season. They smashed Bordeaux (3-0) at home berfore they repeated themselves with a smashing win against APOEL (0-3) away from home. They are therfore naturally in 1st place in Group F, two points ahead of today's opponent, Maccabi Tel Aviv. It is not going so well in Bundesliga currently with a 12th place after 2-4-3 and 12-14 on goal difference. Eintracht Frankfurt is still unbeaten during their last five league games with 1-4-0, but they struggle to take three points.
Therefore it will be a even more important window for them to have success in Europe. The team has talented players, and epsecially offensivley with Alexander Meier (4/2), Václav Kadlec (7/4), Stefan Aigner (9/1) annd Tranquillo Barnetta (5/0). Their coach, Armin Veh, is not a unknown name either as he has coached Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Hamburger SV, and he won Bundesliga with Stuttgart in 06/07 season.
Armin Veh has told the media that the spirit within the team is huge during these days, and some of the explenation has been the fans. 44 000 fans were attending the 3-0 against Bordeaux, and the same amount is expected today. "They give the players an extra edge both when it comes to their way of playing and performances as a team and individually.", was his comment a few days ago.
Injurywise midfielders Pirmin Schwegler (3/0) and youngster Marc Stendera (0/0) are missing during ligament injuries. Defender Soares de Oliveira Anderson (8/0) is doubtful with his concussion.
Probable lineup for Eintracht Frankfurt:
Trapp - S. Jung, Zambrano, (Anderson), Oczipka - Russ - Rode, Barnetta - Meier - Aigner, Kadlec
Maccabi Tel-Aviv has also been doing very well in EL as they are 2nd with four points, after a huge win away against Bordeaux (1-2), and a dissapointing draw against APOEL at home in the first round (0-0). They missed a penalty in the 95th minute, which could given them full score, but they did not take advantage of their oppertounity. They are also flying skyhigh back in Israel with 5-1-0, 10-0 on goal difference and 16 points they are in 1st position as the only team that has kept a clean sheet so far.
Probable lineup Maccabi Tel-Aviv:
Juan Pablo - Ziv, Tibi, Carlos Garcia, Ben Harush - Alberman, Yeini, Radi, Zahavi - Prica, Itzhaki
This will definetley be the biggest test so far for Maccabi Tel-Aviv and I think that they will struggle to get any points from this game. However, they showed against Bordeaux that they are highly capable of surprising if they get the right oppertunities. Their two strikers Rade Prica (6/3) and Barak Itzhaki (2/4) has been very good so far. In addition, Maccabi Tel-Aviv are flying high during these days, and I think their current flow could end in at least one goal for them tonight. Eintracht Frankfurt should handle this at home though, especially when a victory here could make them progress into the knockout stages. Many fans expected in combination with to teams that is very much up for it these days, I expect the result to involve at least three goals tonight. My prediction will be like 2-1/3-0/3-1.
