Latvian hockey team is playing some good hockey this season. They already defeated some powerful teams such as Dinamo Moscow (last year's champions). Victories came against equal opponents or weaker ones. Riga lost 5 out of 12 matches played: CSKA Moscow (very strong team this year, one of my favourites for the title), AK Bars, Torpedo and unsuprisingly to Amur and newcomers Admiral Vladivostok. I expected Dinamo Riga to lose these two games just because the travel time is huge and you have to cover enormous territories to get from Riga to the Eastern part of Russia. In the last match, Riga defeated Sibir by 4:1. I expect something similar to happen today.
Metallurg Novokuznetsk leaders are players from Finland. Goaltender Niko Hovinen has conceded 2,81 goals (92,5%) in his 8 matches. This result is pretty good in my opinion. Metallurg to win only twice in 10 games played and they find themselves in the bottom of the table with 6 points. Top player is Marko Antila with 6 points (in 10 matches). This player is 201cm tall and last season he became the top scorer of Finnish league team TPS. Only several players in team have neutral or positive +/- ratio. The only player with positive ratio is Sergey Yemelin which is one of the team's leaders.
Basically, there are couple of reasons why you should bet on -1.5 here.
1) Dinamo Riga has very tough schedule this month and they know that they should take all 3 points against such opponents like Novokuznetsk.
2) Team is in better shape now than one week ago when they arrived in Khabarovsk after some long travel. Victory against Sibir proves that.
3) Team is just level above Novokuznetsk in general. Maybe only 1st lines are pretty much equal, but 3/4 of Riga team is better than their opponents.
Good luck everyone !
