Arsenal vs Tottenham by Rostick

The classic London derby will see another episode tonight.

Arsenal, again under pressure due to the lack of summer signings, managed to bounce back from a 1-3 home defeat to Aston Villa with a 3-1 win of their own at Fulham, plus an easy 5-0 aggregate qualification in the UCL group stages over Fenerbahce. Great offensive play by the gunners so far, they are scoring freely, but their defense is really poor.

Tottenham has a great squad this year, they brought in a lot of quality players, the star signing being of course Roberto Soldado, who already scored twice in the Premier League. Actually, those were the only goals that Spurs scored so far, both of them being game winners (1-0 at Crystal Palace, 1-0 vs. Swansea). Spurs have so much quality in offense and it is somewhat surprising they only managed two 1-0 wins.

Oxlade Chamberlain, Vermaalen, Diaby, Podolski, and Arteta will miss the game for the gunners. Vermaalen`s absence is a big blow to a defense that wasn`t so great even with him in a lineup. Tottenham will again be without Bale, also Adebayor and Assou Ekoto will miss out.

Arsenal: Szczesny – Koscielny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Monreal – Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla – Walcott, Giroud, Rosicky

Tottenham: Lloris – Walker, Vertonghen, Dawson, Rose – Townsend, Dembele, Capoue, Paulinho, Chadli – Soldado

When these two teams meet, goals are expected. The last 6 direct meetings had at least three goals, the last 8 league games were all over 2.5. I don`t see why today should be any different. Arsenal badly needs a win to calm down the fans, Tottenham of course will not play for the draw. The fact that the visitors were involved in low scoring games was only because the opponents were defending in numbers, also Spurs needed a little time to jell. It is expected that against Arsenal they will have more spaces and they will be more prepared to play their game, and that is an offensive one.

It's hard not to take the over here with both hands at such good odds. I can see the bookies` logic: Tottenham has 2-0 goal difference in two rounds, Arsenal can be inefficient, teams can settle for a draw, etc. No way! Expect a fast paced game played for the win by both sides, with a lot of errors at the back for Arsenal but also offensive pressure from the gunners. Quality up-front and the motivation for both teams should make the difference in a high tempo game.

I`m going with max. stakes.
