Salzburg vs Austria Vienna by Goleador
In this Bundesliga clash runner-up last year and top favourite to win Bundesliga Salzburg plays against titleholder Austria.
Last week I explained the situation of Salzburg: "Salzburg after years of many changes they want to build up a good team due to continuity and so almost all players stayed and Salzburg found new stengh in some new players like Yordy Reyna (Alianza Lima), Peter Gulacsi (FC Liverpool), Andre Ramalho (FC Liefering), Jakob Jantscher (back from D. Moskau after loan), Marco Meilinger (back from Ried after loan). Especially Meilinger made a really good development and should be starter against Wr. Neustadt. Jantscher, who came back from Moscow now is the most valuable player in league (transfermarkt.at) and Gulacsi will start too and replace GK Walke. In preparation Salzburg won against noteable teams like Metz 3-0, Paderborn 7-2 and Schalke 04 3-1. Last week Salzburg defeated Regionalliga team St Florian in Austrian Cup with 9-0. All this show the strengh of the Salburg offensive players like Soriano, Alan, Mane and Meilinger who all scored in the last game. "
Now one week later it didn´t change and Salzburg showed their strengh against Wr. Neustadt, where they won 5-1, goals by Soriano (3) and Kampl (2). They playing system of Salzburg was clear shown: Salzburg creates a majority in the middle, when the winger go to the center and the left and right defenders play as wingers. Salzburg dominated the game and won easily although their were some mistakes in defense when Wr. Neustadt scored the goal. The reason therefore is that in defense Rodnei, Vorsah and Schiemer, all CB, are injured. So newcomer Ramalho played with Hinteregger in Central Defense.
Austria also was one of my picks last week: "After the good season last year Austria didn´t have to sell any of their good players, just young players who moved to second team to Regionalliga to get game experience. Austria was active on transfermarket and got Royer from 1.FC Koln, Okotie from Graz and Ramsebner from Wr. Neustadt. Especially Royer and Okotie will be a good support for the team. Austria played well in preseason games and also won their first round Austrian Cup game last friday against Oberwart (Regionalliga) 3-0, and a club friendly last sunday against BPL club Everton was won 2-1."
Last Saturday Austria defeated Admira 2-0, but it was not really impressive: Austrias Hosiner (topscorer last season) scored the first goal in 77th minute and Stankovic after a penalty in stoppage time 2-0. It was a equalised game most parts and of the game but Austria took their chances. Austria played a their pressing with new coach Bjelica a bit late and if Salzburg plays a fast passing style they should create a lot of more chances and win.
I expect Salzburg to win. Their win against weak team Wr. Neustadt was impressive and this is a important game that early in the season at home side for Salzburg.
