Norway vs Netherlands by Sureseye

The Norwegians back home will no doubt expect a lot from its team in this tournament since Even Pellerud, who won the Euros back in 1993 and the World Cup in 1995 and is now back in the same job. Since taking over, he has engaged a mix of young and experienced players to face some stern test with opponents, loosing 5 out of the 9 matches, although have played some tough opponents (USA, Japan, Sweden and Germany).

It is Solveig Gulbrandsen's fourth European Championship and was part of the side that won the Olympics

in Sydney in 2000. Team also have experienced Ingrid Hjelmeseth marking the goal lines; she plays for Stabaek, who are top of the Norwegian league.

In their opener against Iceland, Kristine Hegland had gotten Norway ahead in the 26' before a Margret Lara 87' penalty kick equalized for Iceland.

The Dutch team has goalkeeper Loes Geurts, linchpin Daphne Koster and Kirsten van de Ven in defence and all time top scorer Manon Melis along with Sylvia Smit and Lieke Martens in attack.

Holland played a barren 0-0 draw in their opener against Germany; a result the dutch side should be happier with considering the fact that they filed out against the tournament's favourite who had a bad day missing close range chances.

Both teams seems balance and should be eager at recording a win today. Even at that, I expect a careful game from both sides; in the build up to this campaign, both teams often play tactically discipline when it comes to opponents within their ranks. It will be hard to see beyond 2 goals today!
