Gamba Osaka vs Tokushima Vortis by 20legend

Gamba Osaka is the league leaders with 43 points after 12-7-1 in the first 20 games. After six straight victories, Gamba Osaka made a huge disappointment with their draw against Okoyama (1-1) in their last match. However, their only loss came against second placed Vissel Kobe (2-0) away from home, but Gamba Osaka is still two points ahead on the table. They are also eight points ahead of V-Varen Nagasaki who is in third place. The 1st and 2nd place proceeds directly into J-League next season, and things is looking very good for today’s hosts as there is eight points down to the third place as mentioned. Gamba Osaka is unbeaten at home this season with 4-6-0 and won against Tochigi (3-0), Kusatsu (5-1) and Gifu (2-0) at home before they played the 1-1 draw against Okoyama in the last home game.

Today’s opponent is Tokushima Vortis is in 14th place with 26 points after 8-2-10 this season. The special thing about this team is that they are the specialists of playing matches with at least three goals involved. 14 out of their 20 games has involved at least three goals so far, while Gamba Osaka has gone over 2,5 goals in 9 of 20 games. Tokushima Vortis comes from a loss at home against JEF Chiba (1-2). The game before, they won against Matsumoto Yamaga (2-0) at home, while they got a draw their last game away from home against Montedio Yamagata (2-2). Even if Tokushima is in 14th place, it is only six points up to the golden 6th place that give playoff and currently belongs to JEF Chiba with 32 points. Therefore, Tokushima also got some important to go after at this stage.

Gamba Osaka is clearly favorites here and it is rightfully as well. However, the odds are a bit too extreme as Gamba Osaka has some important players unavailable today. Midfielder Akhiro Lenaga (17/1) is out due to yellow card-suspension. More importantly, Gamba’s Brazilian attacking duo Paulinho (12/2) and Leandro (19/13) is both out, due to injury (Paulinho) and yellow card- suspension. The absence of Leandro is a huge blow as he is the most important player for this team as his goal record clearly shows. However, Gamba Osaka should be in good hands, as he will be replaced by their “super-sub”, Shoki Hirai (6/3), who has come in as a sub in five of his six games (150 minutes in total) and scored his three goals.

Tokushima Vortis has two injuries for this game as midfielder Yu Eto (4/0) and defender Yuya Hashiuuchi (5/1) will be missing. This is however, not the most important players to be missing out, so it will not be critical absences for them.

Gamba Osaka has some important players out today, while Tokushima Vortis is not so bothered with that. This game is between two teams that often is involved with many goals in their games. Tokoyama has 3-4-2 and 11-15 on goal difference away from home, while Gamba Osaka has 4-6-0 and 17-7 at home. With these two teams involved, I see good value in BTTS as both teams often involves goals both ways. Both teams also got something to play for, so it should be quite a few goals in this fixture as well. Over 2,5 goals could be another pick here, but I choose
