Jelgava vs Daugavpils by Sureseye

Jeglava are currently at the 8th position on the league, standing at a 1-2-8 (8/26). It is by no surprise they are at the bottom of the league as it is a position the Sergejs Golubevs man should be used to that going by their standing dating back to three seasons from now (2012 – 7th, 2011- 6th, 2010 – 6th).

Last match was away to FC Jurmala, as expected, match became explosive ending 4-2 as the home side had nothing to keep in their shell contending against been relegated.

Jeglava have welcomed Ventspils (1-2), Daugava Riga (0-3) and FC Jurmala (0-1). These are three teams with same strength as today’s guests. They could only score 1 goal in welcoming those teams. Bad news for coach Sergejs Golubevs is that topscorer Maksims Danilovs (11/3), and important defender Dimitrijs Siluks (11/0) are on suspension. It is also important to note that Maksims Danilovs was the scorer of the goal when they welcomed Ventspils.

Daugavpils are a regular name to reckon with in Latvian football, they are strong football household and finished as the best team last season. Last match was at home welcoming Ventspils, and lost to the guest 1-0 after failing to respond to Yanchuk Vadim’s goal early in 13 minutes of the game.

Daugavpils have been playing well at the back in their last five matches, recording clean sheets in the process. They will be motivated today to play stable, in their quest to move higher on the table. On travel against similar opponent as they have today like FC Jurmala, they won 1-0, keeping a clean sheet.

In their last 4 meetings, both sides have ended not scoring in 3 of the matches, and of course it has been the weaker Jeglava. Jeglava are missing their top-scorer and will be blunt going upward especially against a team that has started playing well at the back. I expect something like 0-1 or 0-2.
