Benfica
VS
Fenerbahce
The first leg ended 1-0 on behalf of Fenerbahce. It is time for Benfica to play at home with their real strength.

In the first leg Benfica was something else. The line up was unexpected and Gaitan was not in eleven. This became an advantage for Fenerbahce. Fenerbahce did great job and played very well. Did Benfica underestimate Fenerbahce as they trusted Aimar in midfield and keep Gaitan at the bench? IMO the eleven of Benfica was unexpected and helped Fenerbahce to record the victory. They deserved to win as they were ten times more motivated. Benfica lost because of the head coach J. Jesus. He simply did not take the first leg as serious as it was supposed to be. Forward Ola John (26 matches 4 goals) is suspended. He is not the key player but that would be better for Benfica if he would play. Midfielder E. Perez (32 matches 4 goals) was absent in the first leg but he is returning. He will for sure play important role for Benfica to play vertical to forward. Important forward Gaitan is doubtful but should at least play 45 minutes. Defender Luisao (23 matches 2 goals) was an other absent in the first leg and he is also returning.

Fenerbahce side: Very critical defensive midfielders Mehmet Topal and Meireles are absent. Selcuk Ucan and young talent Salih would cover up this area but I wonder how much they can perform. Fenerbahce are going to be without important forward Webo and Sow will be alone in the forward. It is a fact how less efficient Sow is in the absentee of Webo. We witnessed this before.

In this match Benfica will organize very serious goal chances. IMO the only chance for Benfica not to win this match is if their player(s) get suspended. Comparing to the first leg, they will play much more different football. It is not important what system Fenerbahce will perform. Benfica is not an ordinary European team and I still believe they are currently Champions League class. Benfica have just kind of players and football style that they can manage to hit the nets of Fenerbahce 2 times in 5 minutes especially when Fenerbahce are on away in front of 65.000 fans without such defensive players like Topal and Meireles. Wow Fener is really really terrible... So many teams that would have deserved this place in the semis more than them...
