Tiger Woods vs Charl Schwartzel by Jamesington
Whilst the tournament is a special one every time it is played, this year we will see something which has been missing for the past four years - a fully firing Tiger Woods. The World #1 is back on top of his game and has started this season with a bang (perhaps not quite reaching his previous standards, but still incredible compared to most others), winning on three occasions and raking in more than $3.7 million in prize money already.
Tiger has won this tournament four times and will be confident of adding another green blazer to his collection come April 14th. Woods has played solid golf throughout the early part of this season and has declared after his recent win at Bay Hill "I'm very pleased with the way I'm playing". Nike's former/and likely future main man has not won a Major since 2008 but on a course where he has dominated in the past, it would seem likely that he will come close again this year - available at 7/2 Tiger represents a solid bet to win the tournament, believe it or not that is actually one of the biggest prices Tiger has gone off at for a US Masters.
TIGER WOODS TO WIN THE MASTERS - 5pts @ 4.50
Another Masters champion who will come to Georgia in fine form is South African Charl Schwartzel. The 2011 champ is playing some really good golf, with 2 wins in December (by 11 and 12 shots!) and 4 top 10 finishes already in 2013 (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 9th) there is a very real chance the Jo-burg boy will come good again.
CHARL SCHWARTZEL TO WIN THE MASTERS - 1pt E/W @ 23.0 (E/W pays 1/4 odds for 6 places)
Phil Mickelson, Keegan Bradley and Dustin Johnson must be considered real dangers due to their current form and track record but for me Rory McIlroy's tough times aren't likely to improve around Augusta - the young Northern Irishman is having a tough time (perhaps due to his new Nike clubs) and is a shadow of the player we saw last season.
