Aston Villa vs West Ham by Jamesington

Aston Villa are in a horrible place at the moment. They find themselves stuck in the relegation zone, with only 1 home league win in the past four months and regularly fielding a side comprising mainly of inexperienced youngsters.

Whilst Villa's lack of goals appears to be finally coming to an end - they have scored in their past three matches - the more worrying issue is their inability to keep them out! Having conceded 25 goals in their last 8 league matches - including 10 in 4 home games, it would seem unlikely they will manage to keep a clean sheet against West Ham.

The value bet of the game for me is in backing the Hammers' hitman Andy Carroll to find the back of the net. Only just back from injury the England forward is already looking dangerous and found the net against Swansea last week. Not only did Carroll score but he was a real menace throughout the game proving strong in the air and providing a deft touch on the ground.

The Geordie managed to score 3 times in his only previous career start against Villa (back when he played for Newcastle) and he should be backed to score again here - his strength and skill will prove a serious problem for the Villa defence.
