Manchester C. vs Stoke City by Marlo

Manchester City host stoke in the 21st round of the English Premier League

Manchester City, the current champions, find themselves seven points off arch rivals Manchester United at a little over the half way stage. They cannot afford to drop anymore points carelessly and will go for wins in all other remaining matches and hope other results go their way.

They will welcome Stoke City who are a stubborn side to break down. Rather interestingly, is that Stoke City have been uncharacteristically been involved in some recent high scoring home games, 3-1 win over Liverpool and a 3-3 draw with the Saints (Southampton). In the last game, they were without two key defenders, Shawcross and Cameron and this perhaps played a part in the result. A red card was also shown but this didn't affect the goals as 5 of the 6 goals were scored prior to the dismissal of Nzonzi for Stoke City.

Manchester City are firm favourites here and while it is hard to find fault with that, I don't see a rout. Manchester City have struggled to punish teams and this was clearly evident in their last home game against Reading where a rout was massively overstated. In fact, Reading held on and only lost out on a deserved point due to an injury time Manchester City winner from Gareth Barry. City have also been solid at home ground so a clean sheet is on the cards.

Moreover, the last two meetings between these sides has ended 1-1.

With a solid home ground advantage versus a traditionally stubborn team to break down we should see a 1-0 or 2-0 city win and this has lead me to select a goal line of 3 or less goals. If in fact game does have 3 goals, our entire stake would be returned.

All the best.
