Maurcio Rua vs Alexander Gustaffson by Clinch
Gustaffson is still a young fighter with a record of 14 wins and 1 loss. This will be his eight UFC fight, he is 25 years old.
Mauricio Shogun Rua is a legend of this sport, he was fighting in Japan on Pride tournaments against other legends. He is holding record of 21 wins and 6 losses. He is at age of 31.
Shogun might be older and shorter but experience and skills should still be on his side. This could be a good match to gain more confidence after his HOT-COLD results.
In his career Shogun won versus Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Alistair Overeem - twice, Kevin Randleman, Mark Coleman, Chuck Lidell, Lyoto Machida, Forest Griffin, Brandon Vera...
Gustaffson still didn't fight that big names and Shogun is supposed to be his first famous scalp. He lost from Phill Davis in his only loss, imo the only great opponent in his career and thus Shogun might be another one and his reality check.
People might underestimate Shogun after collecting few losses but he always came back and was never choosing the opponents. Lost to Machida and revenged it, lost to Griffin revenged it again. In last two loses he fought versus Jon Bones Jones, but Jones is really an outstanding fighter that dominates the Octagon and has bright future in front of him. The other one is Dan Henderson, another experienced and hard core fighter that managed to knock out one of the greatest fighters of all time, Fedor Emelianenko. Shogun went with him until the end to the judges decision.
Gustaffson is surely and energetic fighter with good punching and Ground 'n' pound game and probably better stamina but the odds on Shogun must be taken in this 3 rounds contest!!
In stand up they could be equal but on ground game Shogun should dominate.
I am all the way with Shogun and generous odds by bookies.
I rate this match 60:40 in favor or Shogun.
