Kent State (2-8) have been poor this season as they have lost 27-13 at home to Buffalo (4-6); lost 24-3 at Northern Illinois (7-3), they did win 17-14 at home over Miami Ohio (4-6) but the last three weeks have been very bad, as they lost 48-3 at Ohio (8-2), lost 44-16 at home to Bowling Green (2-8) and lost 48-20 at Western Michigan (6-4). So they have given up 48, 44 and 48 points in the last three weeks.
Against Ohio they had just 64 passing yards and 102 rushing yards while allowing 138 passing yards and 336 rushing yards. Against Bowling Green, they had 144 passing yards and 140 rushing yards but allowed 174 passing yards and 227 rushing yards. And finally against Western Michigan last week, they had 119 passing yards and 162 rushing yards but gave up 97 passing yards and 292 rushing yards as well as three rushing touchdowns.
Central Michigan have already qualified for a bowl so their last two games against Kent State and Northern Illinois (8-2) will be opportunity for them to fine tune for that bowl game. They lost 31-14 at home to Miami Ohio (4-6), beat Ohio (8-2) 26-23 on the road and then lost 30-10 at home to Toledo (8-2). However in the last three games, they have really stepped it up as they won 56-9 on the road at a very poor Ball State (2-8), won 35-28 at Western Michigan (6-4) and won 42-30 at home to Eastern Michigan (3-7). So they have scored 56, 35 and 42 points in their last three games.
Against Ball State, they passed for 199 yards and ran for 256 yards, while allowing 127 passing yards and 81 rushing yards. In the win over Western Michigan, they had 243 passing yards and 164 rushing yards while allowing 42 passing yards and 315 rushing yards. Last weekend they had 155 passing yards and 177 rushing yards while allowing 204 passing yards and 124 rushing yards in the win over Eastern Michigan as they picked off their quarterback five times/
Central Michigan have won their last three road games in conference play and like them to do so again here. Can see them using their balance offence to move the ball and while Kent State has done well to defend the pass, they will need to bring up players to stop the run, which will see the CMU wide receivers matched up one-on-one with the corners, and believe they can exploit this to their advantage. Kent State will look to run the ball as CMU has been very good in limiting passing plays and they will have some joy there, but they do not have the quarterback to take advantage and may have to settle for field goals instead of touchdowns. Like CMU to win this one well
