Akron have a 5-5 record and need one more win to become bowl eligible. They have a tough game here against Ohio, while they finish their season off with a game against lowly Kent State and that game there they should do enough to win and get the six wins on the season they need to go to a bowl.

They have done well in conference play, going 4-2. They won 28-14 on the road to Bowling Green (2-8) as they had 183 passing yards and 178 rushing yards in that win. They did allow 195 passing yards and 181 rushing yards in that game so they had similar amount of yardage but Akron did get a couple more turnovers which won them the game. They they played another poor side in Ball State (2-8) where they won 31-3 at home, passing for 249 yards and running for 134 yards while allowing 221 passing yards and 155 rushing yards. Similar yardage once again, but getting three interceptions allowed them to win this game quite easily.

Next up they won 14-13 at Western Michigan (6-4), as they passed for just 127 yards and had another 88 rushing yards while Western Michigan had 182 passing yards and 244 rushing yards but an interception, a fumble, turnover on downs and two missed field goals means that Akron once again had fortune favouring them. However they were not so lucky in their next game as they were up against Toledo (8-2) as they lost 48-21 on the road, as they had 291 passing yards and just 42 rushing yards but gave up 323 passing yards and 303 rushing yards to be comprehensively outplayed.

Akron bounced back with a 21-20 home win over Buffalo (4-6) where they had 286 passing yards and 81 rushing yards while allowing 313 passing yards and 141 rushing yards. Once again they had less total yardage and had luck on their side, as Buffalo missed a 46 yard field goal which would have won them the game. Last weekend, they lost 24-14 at Miami (Ohio) who have a (4-6) record, as they had 218 passing yards and 55 rushing yards while allowing 235 passing yards and 135 rushing yards even though Miami gave up two interceptions.

Ohio (8-2) have got two road games at Akron and Buffalo to finish off their season, and if they win out, they will win the MAC East Conference and get to play in the MAC title final. So plenty for them to play for here. They have gone 5-1 in conference play, and should add two more games here

They won 27-20 in double over time at Eastern Michigan (4-6) as they had 197 passing yards and 171 rushing yards while allowing 305 passing yards and just 45 rushing yards. EMU twice turned over the ball on downs which cost them a chance of winning this game. Ohio then surprisingly lost 26-23 at home to Central Michigan (6-4) as they had 160 passing yards and 190 rushing yards while allowing 249 passing yards and 68 rushing yards as an interception and three fumbles cost them

Next up was a 48-30 road win over Bowling Green as they passed for 105 yards but ran for 335 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns. They did give up 192 passing yards and 229 rushing yards as Ohio benefited from two fumbles as both teams gave up two interceptions. Ohio then smashed a very poor Kent State (2-8) side 48-3 at home with 138 passing yards and 336 rushing yards while allowing just 64 passing yards and 102 rushing yards

Ohio then beat Miami (Ohio) 45-28 as they passed for 294 yards and three passing touchdowns as well as 149 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while Miami had 350 passing yards and 98 rushing yards. Ohio had some luck here as they had two interceptions while Miami also turned it twice over on downs. Last weekend, they won impressively 38-10 over Toledo (8-2) with 139 passing yards and a massive 393 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns while allowing just 263 passing yards and 53 rushing yards.

Going off last weekends big win, then Ohio should be too strong for Akron here. While they will give up some passing yards it is their rush defence that should contain Akron's run game. If you use the Toledo game to compare the two sides, Toledo ran all over Akron and expect Ohio to do the same here. Believe that Ohio will wear them down and force Akron into throwing the ball but both sides have shown that they are able to read the quarterback and create interceptions. Ohio have scored 48, 48, 45 and 38 points in their last four games, while allowing allowing 30, 3, 28, and 10 points. The only team that Akron has struggled against was Toledo as they beat that have a similar or worse record than them. Likely they will look past this game, and save themselves for the must win over Kent State, so expect Ohio to win this one quite easily
