Club Tijuana vs Leon by KhanT
After absolutely destroying Veracruz with 6:2 scoreline at home, Leon will pack their bags and go to Tijuana to face Xolos. Tijuana are not the team they were last season, not even close. The biggest reason for this is of course transfer of their best player by far, Alvaro Hurtado in Monterrey. Which was the biggest transfer in Liga MX this last transfer window. Without Hurtado Xolos are struggling to score goals and create opportunities, they have scored only 14 goals and with 2 rounds left until Liguilla playoffs begin, Tijuana are 11th and it will be very hard for them to reach the playoffs. Their last round will also be away to Toluca, another extremely tough game and Toluca are still not safe for Liguilla. So Tijuana will have a very tough time reaching Liguilla this Apertura.
Leon are one of the most powerful attacking teams this season, with Mauro Boselli they look incredibly strong. Mauro himself found the net 11 times and as I'm writing this he is the leading goalscorer of Liga MX with 11 goals, Hurtado (of Monterrey now :D) scored 9 goals and he is 2 goals behind Leon's top gun. Leon are on 4th place with 26 points and their last game will be at home, they will host current champions of Liga MX, Chivas Guadajalara - that are out of the playoffs for some time now because they are just horrible this season after winning the title. But it will be a hard game for Leon in that last round nonetheless, Chivas always play seriously no matter what.
The biggest question is, can Tijuana still make Liguilla? In theory, yes. With 18 points they would need 2 wins to have 24 points, then they would need Atlas to either draw or lose their last two games or lose them both, which is possible. So Tijuana will attack here, they have nothing to lose, they must win this game because their last game is away at Toluca and that is so much harder to win than this home game against Leon.
Leon might be offensive machine this season but they are still insecure at defending and that's just the way Leon always is. But they will come to play in Tijuana and we should see goals from both teams here. Tijuana have really been poor in scoring goals this Apertura but now they have no choice and they must throw all cards in attack to win all 3 points and hope for the best elsewehere in the following weeks.
