Monarcas Morelia vs Cruz Azul by KhanT

Monarcas are playing incredible football this season, I believe that everyone that follows the league is really impressed with Ruidiaz and his companions. The big step up for Monarcas this year is that Ruidiaz is not playing alone anymore like he used to, he is not the hero to save the day like he did last Clausura, although he is still of course their best player and scorer. Monarcas are playing together as a team finally and they look fantastic. One of the most drastic improvements was in defense of Monarcas. From a relegation candidate last year, they have arrived in style in this new season of Apertura and they showed us how well they've worked on defense durring the summer break.

Monarcas conceded only 14 goals in 15 rounds of Liga MX. They are ranked 3rd right now as I'm writing this, who could ever imagine that Monarcas would play as good as this, when just last season they barely escaped relegation with that late goal of Ruidiaz. With 2 rounds left in Liga MX, Monarcas are coming in another edition of Liguilla playoff and they will be a tough team to beat there, whoever faces them.

What to say about Cruz Azul? They need this win badly, but they are once again a huge disappointment to all Cruz Azul fans. Paco Jemez is on his way to miss Liguilla playoffs once again, this will be very sad because if they fail to reach playoffs, Paco Jemez will have 0 Liguilla playoffs ever since he arrived in Cruz Azul, and he arived with big hype and big hopes. With 4 defeats in last 5 games, just like always in recent history, when it matters most Cruz Azul bottled it. They had Liguilla in their hands but with losses to America, Lobos and Tigres they were surpassed by Atlas and now Cruz Azul are 9th. They haven't been able to defeat Monarcas since summer of 2015, and now Monarcas are so much better than they ever were back then. Cruz Azul are under huge pressure and Jemez will get fired, or better said, he will resign himself before he gets fired if Cruz Azul fails to make Liguilla playoffs. Monarcas are undefeated since late October, no losses in regular time in last 6 games. Last time Monarcas lost at home was against Pachuca in August.

With so much pressure on Cruz Azul and the worst possible timing to catch a bad form, just before the playoffs, they should crumble and fall completely. It's what Cruz Azul does best in these last few years, crumble under pressure and lose. Monarcas will not spare any players or start thinking about Liguilla just yet, they have one more game in Liga MX at 19th of November and in that game they will calculate about Liguilla, in this game against Cruz Azul, they will play 100 % since Liguilla is still fairly far away to start saving energy.
