Lyon have five points so far to sit in second spot and three points behind leaders Atalanta. They opened their run in the Europa League with a 1-1 draw at Apollon Limassol then drew 1-1 at home to Atalanta where they then went to Everton and won 2-1. They have won their last three games in the French Lique 1, as they beat Monaco 3-2 at home, won 5-0 at Troyes and beat Metz 2-0 at home, so with the away win at Everton they have won their last four games in all competitions and scored at least two goals in each

Everton have just the one point as they lost 3-0 at Atalanta, drew 2-2 at home with Apollon Limassol as well as losing 2-1 at home to Lyon so they have allowed at least two goals in each of these Europa League games. They have also lost three and drawn one of their last four matches in the Premier League and this has caused them much concern. So much so, that defenders Jagielka and Baines are being rested as is Rooney for the weekend game with Watford where they really need the three points, while another defender Keane is out injured to join the injury list of quite a few of their squad, so expect to see some fringe or younger players ask to step up and play in this game. Everton have pretty much given up with the Europa League judging by the decision to rest some of their key players, and like Lyon to take advantage of this and win by at least two goal margin here
