Burnley vs Newcastle by JuanO
First of all, shortly about today's hosts. Burnley's head coach Sean Dyche isn't exactly known for his exciting or quick playing style, but rather for his defensive mastery, playing in calm and collected manners, waiting for their chance, and when attacking, they tend to send high balls into the box to sole number nine Chris Wood, which came in during the summer transfer window for a club record fee from a Championship side Leeds United. Even though he hit the ground running almost instantly, after 3 goals he has stopped and that has been his story ever since. In fact, Burnley's shining stars this season are their defenders. Arguably, their two best players this season so far are goalkeeper Pope (he showed a really good display against Man City, despite conceding 3 goals) and defender Tarkowski, who is already attracting interest from bigger clubs in England, repeating last season's story of Michael Keane. Burnley haven't had a game with 3 goals or more against a non-top 6 side this season so far.
Rafa Benitez of Newcastle has different problems with his squad. Even though the playstyle of Geordies is more entertaining, they haven't been able to activate either one of their strikers to their maximum potential, with both Joselu and central defender Lascelles being the top scorers with 2 goals. For a team with strikers like Mitrovic, Gayle, Perez, Ritchie, Atsu and already mentioned Joselu. The reason for that may lie in the quality of the players, which seemed to do way better in the Championship. The three best players for Newcastle this campaign have probably been defensive midfielders Merino and Mbemba and defender Lascelles, which also says a thing or two about Newcastle.
