Ernie Merrick has made an instant impact as Newcastle Jets coach as he has now seen his side go unbeaten in three games. Last week, the Jets recorded another victory as they beat Brisbane Roar 2-1 at Suncorp, with in form striker Roy O'Donovan scoring his fifth goal of the season.

Western Sydney Wanderers will be disappointed that things didn't really went their way in the last two games. In the Sydney derby last weekend, they had a two goals lead before they were pegged back by Sydney. Three days later, they were dumped out of the FFA Cup by Adelaide United.

Both teams come into this game still undefeated in the league. Newcastle Jets may have started the season well but they have yet to play a potential top 3 team in their first three games. Western Sydney imo is one of the top 3 team this season. Newcastle marquee signing Ronald Vargas will also be out of this game and it will be interesting to see why they cope with him. After all the disappointment in the last week, I do expect Western Sydney do have a response here. Even if they can't win, I think they should be able to avoid a defeat.
