Ospreys vs Newport Gwent Dragons by MagicRat

Neither of these teams have started the Pro14 season in a good fashion. Ospreys are rock bottom of their conference with just one win in their opening six matches. That one win came against Zebre in the opnening game. Since then they have lost all of their matches in all competitions. They are one of only two teams to have scored less than 100 points in the opening six league games. Despite that I think there is reason to be psotive here.

They have slowly improved and two of their defeats were a visit to Italy, which was a shock loss but it still involved travelling and a big loss against the Cheetahs in South Africa. Since then they narrowly lost to the Scarlets and in the last two weeks they put in really good displays against Clermont and Saracens in European competition, only narrowly losing both of those matches.

Dragons have only been a little bit better with two wins in their first six matches and one of thse were at home against one of the league's South African teams, and by the wosrst team in the league, the Southern Kings. They won last week in Russia 28-21 and made hard work of a game against opposition that are not of the same standard at all. The game demonstrated the Dragons lack of defensive quality, resorting to giving away a penalty try at one point.

The Ospreys haven't been great this year and just one of their league games has gone over this points figure but both of their European games did as they began to find some scoring form. If that continues they will manage to score quite a few points here against the third worst defence in the league and a team that has conceded at least 35 points in their three league away matches. I don't like Dragons defence, so this is a great chance for the Ospreys to get their season going in style, so I expect that there t be around 50 points or more in this one. pin
