Miami Heat vs SA Spurs by Lloyds
Miami kept most of their squad from last season, many of whom were performing great in the second half of 2016/17, where Miami had the best record along Golden State. Unfortunately a poor start to the season was too much to overcome for them and they missed the playoffs by a thread. Heat certainly carried some of that momentum to this season and will definitely be motivated to get a better start and avoid losing in a streak. The schedule looks favorable for them because they will play at home for another 3 matches after tonight and will look to take full advantage of it. Offensively they look stable and scoring is arranged somewhat equally along 5 or 6 key players, while the bench is also making a contribution. Miami will have to take care well in the paint tonight as they will miss Whiteside (knee injury), who is a great rim protector.
The visitors kinda surprised with this 3-0 start but then again its the Spurs. Wins against Toronto and Minnesota at home proved they can match up well even with Leonard missing because defensive intensity they bring to the floor is suffocating. I will not spend words writing about how great Gregg Popovich's system is only that Spurs biggest strength was and will be their discipline and culture.
Both teams are set to prove that they can compete but I feel Heat have more motive to perform better tonight because its their home floor and the game will be nationally televised. Miami have many young guys who are eager to impose themselves to coach Spoelstra which is why I believe they will go psychical with the Spurs. I would have suggested a straight ML on Miami here, with a smaller stake, but I think pretty safe bet is to win or not lose more than 5.
