Maccabi vs Olympiacos by Demogorgon
●Maccabi has a record of 5-3 (in Tel Aviv)
●Maccabi has an overal lead of 8-7
● 2-2 over their last 4 meetings, while the 'away' team won all 4 times
Maccabi had a poor season last year, but came back stronger and this time they have a very talented roster and high expectations, since most tittle contenders lost very important players/ leaders. They have two very 'small' point guards, Cole and Jackson who have been extremely good so far. Jackson had 27p, 7r, 9a against Brose in the first match, while Cole took over in the second one against Baskonia, with 24p, 3r, 5a. That makes things extremely tough for their opponents, as they are both so good and efficient that it doesnt matter which one you are prepared for in your tactics (defensively), anyone or both could be in top form and destroy you, while on the otehr hand with the likes of Tyus and very talented Parakhouski on Center position along with D.Thomas and M.Roll who are in great shape, coach Spahija should be delighted.
Olympiacos on the other hand comes for a great result, even though he was considered to be hot favorites against Unicaja, they had several absences and that games was not about to be easy. Yet, they got a decent early lead and managed to keep it safe till the end without really give their opponents a chance. This time they will once against miss their leader, Spanoulis who is still injured, along with F K.Tillie.
Olympiacos has great depth, they might lack individuals who are going to make the difference but they have a very balanced team and every players adds a little something, which is what makes them a very tough team to face. Now, Olympiacos is down to two point guards and they have to face two players that are small and very fast, while they like to draw fouls, so at some point, Olympiacos will have trouble at pg position which is what i expect Maccabi to take full advantage of.
I think this game will be close with a low score as Olympiacos will try to play in lower tempo, but for me those small differences, along with the hot Tel Aviv arena (and officials) will make the difference so a lot of value at this small line!
