Gent vs Eupen by NidalA
Eupen have been a mess at their away games. the five away matches Eupen have played this season, they win 0, draw 1, and lost 4. The draw came against Charleroi and in that match, they got a penalty in the first half to equalize 1-1 and then scored the second goal two minutes to stoppage time to equalize 2-1. So it could have as well ended in a loss for them. In the other four matches they lost, they scored in each of the matches apart from the match against Lokeren where they didn't score. All their away matches this season have gone over 2.5 (3-1, 3-0, 5-1, 3-2, 2-2) So this match is likely to go over 2.5. Last season Eupen did a double over Gent beating them home and away (3-2 home) (0-1 away).
Eupen coach, Jordi Condom Auli plays a 4-4-2 formation in his away matches and he will be deploying same formation against Gent with senegal forward M'Baye Leye who already has six goals for the season and Frenchman Nicolas Verdier leading the attack. Eupen getting a goal here is worth banking on.
For the past three seasons, Gent has proved to be a big club in the Belgium Jupiler league. they have given Anderlecht and Club Brugge a run for their money so it is a bit surprising that they are currently on 12th position in the league after 11 matches played.
They have only won 2 matches this season and it is a bad result for a team that is supposed to be competing with Club Brugge and Anderlecht for the No 1 position. Last season they finished 3rd behind Anderlecht and Club Brugge, 2015/2016 season they finished 3rd behind the same teams mentioned above, in 2014/2015 they were champions of Belgium so it is unacceptable for a team of such caliber to be languishing on 12th position.
Gent have started woefully this season and they are looking for a way to get back on track and climb to the top 4 which is where they ought to be. They will be playing a 4-3-3 formation in this game. Nigerian winger Moses Simon, Ukrainian forward Roman Yaremchuk and japanese winger Yuya Kubo will lead the three man attack and this formation will translate to goals.
Gent will definitely win this match no doubt but the odds are not good (1.36), they can also go over 2.5 considering the fact that Euepn have played over 2.5 in all their away matches this season but just like the straight home wins, the odds are not good for me (1.54) so I think the best bet for this match is to take advantage that Gent have a weak defense that have conceded 13 goals already and play Home win & BTTS which is prized at a very good odd of 2.88
