Kohlschreiber vs Isner by Demogorgon
Records in HARD courts:
● the H2H record is 3-3
●Both players won a set in every meeting (6)
●9 tie breaks out of the 22 total sets (in their meetings) (40%)
● Kohlschreiber has a 6-3 H2H record in tie break wins
●There have been 6 tie breaks in 7 sets (total) during their last 2 meetings
Isner is well known for his service, which is probably the very best and most powerful in the game at the moment. He had an average of 15,5 aces per match during his last 6 hard courts games, while he tossed 22 against Nadal in Beijing! In 2017 he has won 2 tittles, one in Atlanta(hard) and one in Newport, UK, (grass).
His record for the season in hard courts is 22-13 while he is at 31-15 (overal) against right-handers.
He is the 5th seed in Vienna and he has decent chances of making it deep, with top seeds being (A.Zverev, G.Dimitrov and D.Thiem)
It will be hard for him to break Kohlschreiber's serve today even though the German ace is not great shape, though he can force tie breakers where he will have a slight advantage.
Kohlschreiber on the other hand lost two places in the ATP ranking, currently 34 with a 29-18 overal record in 2017 and 14-9 record on hard courts. He has won a tittle in Kitzbühel (clay) and lost in the Marrakech final (clay) agaist Coric.
Things have not been good for him lately as he faced a minor injury earlier in September wich kept him out of courts for three weels and had to quit the China open as well. On his return, he lost to Seppi in three close sets (2 tie breaks) but he looked to be ok.
He can not be pleased with this draw and the fact that he faces Isner in the first round and its going to be tricky for him even reaching break points but he will have his chances should he hold on and see a tie break.
I expect a very long match today, between two players taht serve very well. Kohl is the more aactive player on court which is equalized by Isner's top serve, though Isner lack's agility and is not great in long rallies.I think there will be at least one tie break in this match while both could win a set, but the Over has to be the play, even at this high line of 24 games, as they could cover it in just 2 sets.
