Besiktas vs Basaksehir by Pacifier

Besiktas are absolutely flying in the champions league having won three of their opening three group games and winning at tough away grounds. They won 3-1 at Porto and 2-1 at Monaco and also claimed a 2-0 win over RB Leipzig at home. All that success on the European front has not translated to their league form and their last league win came over a month ago in the 2-0 win over Konyaspor. They sit in 7th position with 14 points, nine adrift leaders Galatasaray and three adrift 2nd placed Goztepe which is the last Champions league place. A club of Besiktas statue surely should be challenging for the league and with no European distraction ahead, they can now concentrate on their league form. Ryan Babel is absent after getting sent of in the defeat to Genclerbirligi last week and will be replaced in the lineup by Jeremie Lens. Cenk Tosun should lead the line in a usual 4-2-3-1 formation with Talisca and Quaresma joining Lens in the attacking midfield trio.

Basaksehir are having a dismal European campaign in the Europa league and lost to Hoffenheim on thursday by 3-1. They are almost certainly going out of the group bar a miracle and they now have to face champions Besiktas who are also in dire need of the points today. Basaksehir have lost two and won two of their four away league games with difficult wins at Fenerbahce ( 3-2) and Goztepe ( 2-1). Manuel Da Costa and Emre Belozoglu are carrying minor injuries and may miss this game. It is unclear whether the manager will use a 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1 formation as he switches both but we should see Adebayor in attack, Elia and Visca on both wings and Inler in central midfield.

Besiktas dropped their first home points in the 2-2 draw against Trabzonspor and will definitely want the maximum points in this one. The manager is unlikely to experiment with the line up as he did against Genclerbirligi and he should start with a full strength side here with the only absentee being Ryan Babel. I expect them to have too much threat for basaksehir and ultimately get all three points on offer, but they have been porous in recent weeks conceding in four of their last five games in all competition and with basaksehir scoring at least one in five of their last six game and in six of seven away games in all competitions, I reckon we should see both teams scoring here with Besiktas proving too strong in an entertaining win.
