Houston Astros vs NY Yankees by Senpai
Saturday's baseball match is between Houston Astros and New York Yankees.
Houston won the first two matches, but lost 3 matches after, so they are 2:3 in the series.
Today's starting pitchers are Justin Verlander for Astros and Luis Severino for Yankees.
Severino pitched slightly better throughout the season with an average ERA of 2.98, while Verlander has an average ERA of 3.36.
However, Verlander has 15wins and Severino has 14 wins, so minor difference in ERA can be ignored.
While both pitchers are very good, the difference in the pitchers is the experience in the post season. Severino is a rookie in the post season and did not know how to handle the post season pressure due to the lack of post season experience. This is commonly seen from rookie pitchers and most of the rookie pitchers don't really pitch well in the first game of the post season. Severino clearly showed this problem in the second game of the series where he pitched for only 4 innings and gave 1 run. However, now that he experienced what it feels like to pitch in post season, I expect him to pitch to his very best. Moreover, Houston's batters are in slump and Yankees has good bull pen to pitch after Severino, so he is most likely to pitch well.
On the other hand, Verlander is one of the pitchers in the MLB with the most post season experience and knows how to handle the pressure coming from the post season. He knows that this match can possibly be the last match for the season and will try to avoid that by giving everything he has. Verlander already pitched very well in the second game, where he pitched for the entire game with giving only 1 point, so I expect him to do the same today. Moreover, the Astros manager will also prepare all the pitchers, even the starting pitcher to increase the quality of bull pen, so it won't be easy for Yankees to score.
Thus, after considering everything, I'm going for under 7.5.
Pick: under 7.5
