Cordoba vs Gimnastic by NidalA

Cordoba is lying in the 17th position two places ahead of the relegation zone. This position is not what the management of Cordoba bargained this season. They thought they could be title contenders and fight for return back to La Liga but football is not what you think, result is all that matters. Even if you assemble the best team once the results are not filtering in, you will get to a panic point. Its good however that Cordoba are recovering after a poor start which has seen them loose 6 draw zero and win three. At home they have got two wins against Alcorcon and Tenerife and lost two to Cardiz and Zaragoza. In the losses against Zaragoza and Cardiz, not only did they play excellently, they also got the better possession but eventually lost. However in the wins against Tenerife and Alcorcon, they played well, dominated the game and won. So the team is getting back to winning ways in front of their fans and today might be a day to add it three straight wins at home.

Honduras striker Jona or Spanish player Sergio Guardiola Navarro will be leading the Cordoba attack in a 4-2-3-1 formation which is the preferred formation of 38th year old coach Luis Carrion

Club Gimnastic de tarragona have not been performing well on the road this season. Out of the 4 matches they played so far away from home, they have zero win, 2 draws and 2 loss. In my own opinion, The two draws they recorded would have ended in a loss if not for mother luck, they were lucky to get the draws. In their match against Reus Deportiu, Reus striker David Querol missed a penalty in the 81st minute which would have made the game 2-1. And the draw against Zaragoza, they were loosing 0-1 before the referee sent off zaragoza stirker Borja Iglesias in the first half and reduced them to 10 men. It was after the red card that Gimnastic could find their footing and equalized in the 86th minute. If they had stayed 11 against 11 throughout the match, i doubt Gimnastic could get a good result.

in the losses they recorded, They lost to Cadiz 2-0 and Lost 2-0 to tenerife in their last away match. In the match against Tenerife, they were entirely outplayed and outclassed. if not for the chances wasted by Tenerifes strikers, the score line would have been more embarrassing. Gimnastic Right back Daisuke Suzuki got a red card in the 86th minute but before then, they were already down 2-0 so the red card was insignificant.

Gimnastic Coach Antonio Rodriguez will file out a 4-4-2 formation with in -form Nigerian striker Ike Uche who got two goals in their last game and Manuel Barreiro leading the attack. I will say that this attack does not look too sharp to get the needed goals because of the age of the players (IK Uche is 33 while Barreiro is 31 so definitely they have passed their prime) and considering the fact that Cordoba central defenders are still around 24 years average (Jose Caro 24, Jose Sanchez 21, Ricardo Afonso 27).

So With all that is factored in today, and also with the fact that Cordoba have a better head-head advantage against Gimnastic at home as they have won in all last four meetings at home, I can confidently say that Cordoba will win Gimnastic to Nill but since the odds of a straight win is decent @2.05 I will go for a straight Cordoba win.

Good luck!
