Liverpool vs Man. United by Pacifier
Liverpool welcome Manchester United in arguably the biggest rivalry in english football. Liverpool are 7th on the log after seven games played after winning three, drawing three and losing one. They remain unbeaten at Anfield with two wins over Arsenal ( 4-0) and Crystal Palace ( 1-0) and drawing 1-1 with Burnley. May quarters of the media predicted their lack of reinforcement during the transfer window especially at the back would haunt them and that has been the case with thirteen goals conceded thus far ( only two teams in the whole division has conceded more). They have Sadio Mane unavailable for this one after picking up a hamstring injury on international duty with Senegal. Dejan Lovren is also in a race to be fit for this one and will be assessed. Lallana, Clyne are both long term injury absentees. Liverpool should line up in their usual 4-3-3 formation with Coutinho replacing Mane on the left flank with the hardworking trio of Can, Wijnaldum and Henderson offering support in midfield.
manchester United are flying this term and have six wins and a draw so far tied on points with City at the top of the league. They have scored 21 goals while conceding just two, and although the quality of the teams they have faced so far could be questioned, that takes nothing away from the fact that they have improved immensely from the team that drew 15 games last term. Nemanja Matic has brought a much needed calm and grit to the midfield and 75 million pound signing Romelu Lukaku looks like he will score in every game. The competition between Rashford and Martial seems to be paying off as they have both impressed this term. The defense looks good and they have arguably the best goalkeeper in the world between the sticks. Marouane Fellaini is unavailable for the game and so is Paul Pogba so last season player of the year Ander Herrera should partner Matic in the middle of the pack.
It finished 0-0 here last season with united snuffing the life out of the game with their defensive tactic but this is a much improved united side and even though I doubt they can match Liverpool in terms of possession play, I believe they can create more goal scoring chances especially with the power and pace of Lukaku upfront against this Liverpool out of sort defense line. The battle between Rashford/Martial and Gomez should be interesting and that could very much decide the outcome of this game an United will look to put the kid under pressure.
This is a very tricky fixture and calling a winner is very difficult, but I strongly believe United are stronger and now is a good time to end that four game without a win streak against Liverpool. My tip is an away win at good odds.
