Melbourne V. vs Melbourne City by Vasilli07

Melbourne Victory began the season on a losing note as they lost to Sydney FC in last week’s ‘Big Blue’ Grand Final rematch. It was a cagey affair till Thomas Deng own goal in the 53th minute. That was enough to see Sydney walk away with three points.

City will be looking to make it two wins from two to start the season. In the first game, they beat Brisbane Roar courtesy of two goals from winger Bruce Kamau.

Both teams will welcome back their internationals. Mark Milligan, James Troisi and Kosta Barbarouses will all return for Victory while Argentine playmaker Matias Sanchez could also make his debut after missing the game last week with an hamstring injury. Australian hero Tim Cahill who scored the winning goal against Syria in midweek will also be available for City.

Even though City won their first game but it was against an old Brisbane Roar. I'm also not convinced by Warren Joyce credentials yet. Victory attack will be boosted by Troisi and Barbarouses, that should make them play better in the final third. This is a derby so anything could happen but I'm going to tip Victory to get the first bragging rights of the season. pin
