Augsburg vs RB Leipzig by Hassy

Augsburg continued their surprisingly good form and impressive start at the weekend beating Frankfurt, despite playing away from home, and provided their believers with a big profit. The win on the road means that Augsburg have now scored an impressive seven goals in three matches and will be coming into this fixture full of confidence.

The home side have scored at least twice in each of their last three matches and have been playing attacking football. Manuel Baum’s side have players capable of providing chances, while, in Icelandic target man Alfreð Finnbogason, they have a forward to put them away. It is worth noting that from a total of 4 games that FC Augsburg played there were 3 matches with over 2.5 goals.

Rieder is the only guaranteed absentee for the hosts. Fringe players such as Teigl andFreidfrich are also doubtful, while Leitner could also miss out.

I think RB Leipzip are feeling the effects of the CL already and the added schedule of games seems to have somewhat hampered the quick start they were seeking. That being said after starting the season with a loss in their opening game against Schalke, they have collected seven points in three rounds.

On Saturday evening, the best Leipzig could manage was only a point at home to Gladbach. However, as is becoming commonplace for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men, they were once again useful going forward, but somewhat weak at the back. Defensively, Leipzig really haven’t impressed. Hasenhüttl’s side have conceded in four of their last five matches already this season, against a home side that love breaking on the counter, the fact that Leipzig aren’t likely to do much in the way of sitting deep doesn’t exactly bode well for the visitors. The visitors almost have a complete clean bill of health. Coltori is manager Ralph Hasenhüttl’s only fitness concern.

Going forward, it’s hard to ever discount Leipzig with the quality they’ve got and, against an Augsburg side who, for all their forward achievements, haven’t exactly impressed from a defensive point of view, the visitors should score.

I think that coupled with the offensive football both these sides like to adopt, and the fact that Leipzig continue to offer their opponents too many chances will see goals at both ends. The last two games between these two sides have concluded with 2-2 draws too.
