RB Leipzig vs Monaco by Pacifier

Leipzig surprised a lot of people last season when they finished 2nd behind Bayern in the German Bundesliga and therefore qualifying for the UEFA champions league group stages for the first time in their short history. They have not started the league season too badly either as they have won 2 and lost 1 of their opening 3 games. They kicked off with a 2-0 loss at Schalke but bounced back with back to back wins against Freiburg by 4-1 and away at Hamburger 2-0. They managed to keep most of their star performers last season especially Keita who was a subject of a 70 million bid from Liverpool. They will be eager to prove that last seasons achievement was not a one-off.

Monaco were brilliant last season racking up the domestic league impressively by being the highest scoring side in Europe and getting to the UEFA champions league semi-finals before being knocked out by Juventus. That achievement was made possible by the expansive style of play they employed as they relied on outscoring their opponents and their games involved many goals. They have lost many of those stars in the summer transfer window and those losses came to hunt them last weekend as they succumbed to a disappointing 4-0 loss at Nice. Maybe the board think they can afford to sell off their players for big profits and still compete but that will be in their league and they are expected to struggle in the champions league. They made some smart buys, but those players will take time to gel with the team and they might struggle here.

Both teams are very good in attack and both teams scoring has big chances here as neither team is strong defensively. They possess good attackers and I believe both will score here, but I like the look of Leipzig winning this and getting their Champions league campaign off to a cracker. My tip is Leipzig to win & both teams to score.
