Tottenham vs Dortmund by Pacifier

Tottenham struggles at Wembley has been well documented over recent seasons and they have not performed well in their games there this season also losing 2-1 to Chelsea and then drawing 1-1 against Burnley. It is a different story on the road for them as they have beaten Newcastle and Everton 2-0 and 3-0 respectively. Striker Harry Kane is among the goals again after suffering a drought in August and he is expected to lead the line once again here supported by Eriksen and Alli. They boast a team well drilled defensively and they have a solid and cohesive midfield added with clinical and proven goalscorer in Kane. The team knows the importance of a good start here as they have Real Madrid to contend with in the group and result here could likely determine their fortune in this group.

Dortmund have started the season with 2 wins in 3 games. They started with a comprehensive defeat of Wolfsburg by 3-0 before beating Hertha by 2-0 but they suffered a setback over the weekend as they could only manage a draw against Freiburg despite having a player more than the home team from the 27th minute. Dortmund have key absentees for this game like Shurrle, Reus, Durm and Rode. Defender Bartra has also pulled out of the squad and they have a thin team here.

Both teams met two seasons ago in the less prestigious Europa league and Dortmund won home and away by a 5-1 aggregate scoreline. Tottenham has never been known to take that competition too seriously so I would not read much into that result. Tottenham are a well drilled team as they rely on team work rather than individual brilliance for results. The defense was the best in the English Premier league last season and they have the division top scorer from last season too. So much has been said about the Wembley jinx and I think they will banish all talks of that here coupled with the number of absentees on the Dortmund team, Tottenham to win is my pick here.

@Samara7, yeah, I got that news late but it should not affect the outcome. Son is well capable and he has experience playing against Dortmund too.

Little reminder... Spurs are yet to win an European game at Wembly. I fancy a BTTS here
