Hoffenheim vs Liverpool by PatrickBateman

In this Champions Leage Qualifying game Hoffenheim will host Liverpool.

After terrific last season which saw them finishing 4th in Bundesliga, Hoffenheim now have a chance of reaching Champions League. However, it`s hard to see tougher opponent than Liverpool. Their preparations were quite successful and they started competitive season with a minimal 1:0 win against Efurt in DFB Pokal match. During the summer transfer window they brought in couple of good players which will certainly improve their team - most notably Havard Nordtveit and Serge Gnabry. First one came from West Ham for €8m while the latter one came on loan from Bayern. They also lost some important players, with Sule and Rudy signing for Bayern and Schar leaving for Deportivo La Coruna. However, their team still looks powerful and capable of reaching last season`s success. For this game Nagelsmann will have full squad available.

After good performances in the preseason, Liverpool started Premier League with a stumble. They visited Watford hoping to start their season with three points, but it didn`t turn out well for them. From the very beginning it seemed like they will have hard time getting them. Okaka gave hosts the lead in 8th minute following a corner, and despite Mane equalizing in 29th, Hornets managed to leave on a break with a lead thanks to Doucoure`s goal only three minutes later. Liverpool overturned the deficit with a two goals in two minutes, but they couldn`t hold on to their lead as Britos scored in 93rd minute from a suspicious situation, making the final result 3:3. Klopp will have his full squad available aside from injured Lallana, even though he will not count on Coutinho who requested transfer.

Hoffenheim showed great football last season which was entertaining to watch, and deservedly reached Europe. Liverpool have also been showing good football under Klopp and it`s a real shame that one of these teams won`t be playing Champions League this season. Liverpool are favourites to progress from this tie, but having watched them against Watford it wouldn`t be huge surprise if they ended up being knocked out. Both teams are offensively oriented and this should be a really entertaining clash. Liverpool have not been known for their solid defense, while Hoffenheim lost three important defensive players this summer. Both teams signed great offensive players, further boosting their attacks, and it is hard to see defences dominating in this game. If this game was played under any other circumstances, backing goals would be a no brainer. But since this time a lot of it is at stake, some thinking is in order. Nevertheless, both teams to score and over 2.5 goals seems very likely, and certainly valuable selection at the odds of over 2.00.

Good luck!

interesting match up...my only concern is that judging from years of betting, usually when a team leaks in 3 goals in a game (like how Liverpool did against Watford), they would be very cautious in their next match knowing that they just conceded so many goals. I believe Liverpool will come into this match to defend. because even if they lose 1-0, they have 2nd leg at Anfield. Liverpool will try to avoid the mistake they faced against Watford, which was to concede an early goal. This time around I think they will hold the ball alot more and will try to frustrate Hoffenheim and I even see the first 30 minutes being 0-0. Anyway its just my opinion...all the best mate

@jas7 you are absolutely right, Hoffenheim style of play is also building from the back. and both teams knows the big challenge will be at Anfield so priority ro defense here.
One point is we dont know how competitive will be Hoffenheim this year, with Gnabry and loss of Rudy. Wagner is doubtful.
but still Nagelsmann is the specialist of not loosing than winning. Draw is a good option and logic bet for this game.
