Newcastle vs Tottenham by Blackcrow

Newcastle should be primed for a good start to the season as they play their first game back in the Premier League. While their preseason has seen them scoring goals, they have also been conceding them, which will be a concern as Kane, Eriksen and Alli should be able to make some inroads in their defence. They do not have a great first up record in the PL, as they have won just one of their last nine opening fixtures, and it does not bode well for them, that the last nine teams who have won the Championship in the previous season, have also lost their opening game of the season in the Premier League.

Spurs will look to get off to a flying start and look to improve on their second place last season. With Chelsea losing yesterday, and they play them next, they have the opportunity to win here and next week, and make it a six point gap between them and last season's champions, so like them to win at Newcastle. Though they have not got a good record there, they are a much better side than those who have struggled at St James Park, and have an attack that rivals that of other sides in the PL. While expecting Spurs to score, there is some worry about their defence. Walker has left, Rose is injured, as is Trippier, so Dier is likely to play on the right with Davies on the left, so their defence is weaker than last year's. They have allowed goals in preseason, and while they should score, they are likely to concede as well. The last four clashes between these two sides have seen both teams score, but like Spurs to have that extra bit of quality to win this onepin
