New England vs Vancouver by PatrickBateman
New England are 10th in Eastern Conference with 26 points. They still have a chance of reaching play-offs considering they played less games than most of the teams above them, but they will have to be winning regularly in order to achieve that. After a period of struggles, they connected two wins at home. However, in the last game they were heavily beaten in Chicago. It was always going to be hard for them to take something from the game, but their hope became alive when they answered Chicago in 24th minute through Kamara. However, Chicago established another lead before the break and de Leeuw sent hosts 3:1 up in 49th minute. New England didn`t have an answer and Chicago took all three points with Solignac adding fourth in 92nd minute. Revolution will have almost their full squad available, with only Smith and Kobayashi being questionable.
Vancouver are 7th in Western Conference with 31 points. Thanks to their good form which saw them losing only twice in the last nine games, they put themselves in great position to reach play-off places. They are trailing only by one point behind 6th-placed San Jose, but with two games in hand. During the last five games they beat NYC, LA and Dallas, while losing to Portland and drawing with Colorado. Victory against Dallas was a pretty impressive one, with Whitecaps winning 4:0 in what is usually a tough trip. Againts Colorado they took an early lead but then had to save a point since the hosts overturned the deficit in 54th minute. However, Montero scored in 76th minute, making sure than Vancouver leave with something. For this game Vancouver will be without Edgar, Levis and Davies who are all injured.
Both teams are searching for a place in play-offs, and both teams showed improvements lately. However, Vancouver are in a better position, while New England will be desperately searching for points in every game. New England have been pretty solid at home, but Whitecaps are 2nd best visiting team in MLS and it won`t be easy for the hosts to take three points. It is hard to predict a winner here, but what we should be sure to see is a high-scoring game. New England failed to score only twice at home this season, while majority of times they scored 2 goals or more. Also, game against Philadelphia was their first one to keep clean sheet after five successive home games, while it was also the only one in the last nine overall. Vancover, on the other hand failed to score twice in the last eighteen games, while their clean sheets were also rarity. New England style of play ensures opponents number of chances, while they are hard to stop, especially at home. I think both teams will fancy their chances in what should be an open game with a lot of chances from both sides and therefore I will pick both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
