Everton start the season without Lukaku but have Rooney coming back and like his experience, back with his team he grew up playing for, to set the tone for a good season. They have made some good signings with Pickford in goals, Keane in defence, Klaasen in midfield as well as Rooney so they look pretty solid for their opening game. Successive 1-0 wins at home and away to Ruzomberok in the Europa League will give them a fitness edge while Goodison should be rocking for this game. Everton only lost twice last year at home, losing to Chelsea and Liverpool so their home form has been very good and they beat Stoke 1-0 last year but believe they have a stronger squad while Stoke looks weaker than last year.

The concern for Stoke has been the loss of Arnautovic and Walters which takes away much of their punch up front as these two managed to score quite a few goals for them last season. Berahino is said to be in tune for a good season but still have question marks about his desire. They are up against a pretty solid defence who do not give much away, and will be hard to score against at home, where they had four clean sheets in their last seven home games of last season, while Stoke last five of their last eight away games last season, and have never been known for being good on the road. On opening day, they have lost five of their last 8 matches so these stats even give them less chance of winning here. Like the Toffees to win this one wellpin
