Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield by Rahul

Crystal Palace have a new man at the helm in Frank De Boer who is coming off a poor campaign from Inter Milan where he was sacked mid-way through the season for a string of poor performances. With the expectation of survival and potential of a top 10 finish; the expectation on De Boer will be less in his first season in charge of Palace. Palace will have their strong front 3 with Townsend, Benteke and Zaha up front looking to attack the opposition on the counter attack with their pace to try and disrupt Huddersfield entry into the Premier League at Selhurst Park. Defensively, Palace haven't strengthened much, which could leave them vulnerable with the Milivojevic, Loftus-Cheek and Cabaye likely to start in the middle of the park and give the back line some cover.

Huddersfield start off with a strong set of fixtures against mid-table outfits in Palace, Newcastle, Southampton and West Ham to kick off the season. While they have spent some good money signing some decent players like Tom Ince, Aaron Mooy, Steve Mounie and Elias Kachunga; it remains to be seen if the team will be settled well enough to create enough chances to secure victories. One thing for sure is that Huddersfield aren't the best defensively. They qualified to the Premier League through the playoffs, but had a negative goal difference in the regular season. In pre-season, they conceded 11 goals in 8 games with most of the goals coming in their last few games against quality sides like Torino, Stuttgart and Udinese.

Palace and de Boer will want to kick off the season in strong fashion with a solid victory in front of their fans in order to boost his personal credibility and reputation of the club; and I expect Palace to take a strong victory over Huddersfield in the opening encounter of the season.
