Everton
VS
Stoke-City
After a successful first season at Goodison Park, Ronald Koeman will hope that his Everton side will improve this season. The owners has backed him in the transfer market as he was allowed to spend all of the money received from Romelu Lukaku. In defence, they have brought in GK Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane from Sunderland and Burnley respectively. Midfielder Davy Klaassen was signed from Ajax. Sandro and Wayne Rooney were signed as Lukaku replacements in attack.

Stoke finished last season in 13th spot, that was their worst ever finish under Mark Hughes. Their best player (though inconsistent) Marko Arnautovic (combined with Walters who also left for 17 of Stoke’s 45 league goals last season) has been sold to West Ham. His replacement is Max Choupo-Moting whom they signed on a free from Schalke. Darren Fletcher was another notable new player as he will look to take over Glenn Whelan who left for Aston Villa.

Stoke has stumbled out of the blocks in the last two seasons. It took their 6 and 7 games in 15/16 and 16/17 season respectively to get a win. Everton is a force at home under Ronald Koeman. They were the 4th best home team last season. I think they will do well at home again and they should be able to kick off their season with a win.
