Rijeka vs Dinamo Zagreb by Dwofl

Derby day once again in the Croatian league as defending champions NK Rijeka take on dethroned Dinamo Zagreb.

Their last away game against NK Osijek has left NK Rijeka with several problems more serious than the bitter 1:0 defeat against an aggressive host. Setting aside the referee's yellow/red card rampage that started with the 1st half penalty, the game was pumped with determination and desire that resulted in two red cards and several injuries for NK Rijeka sending the butchered team home to prepare for tomorrow's derby with a motivated Dinamo Zagreb. Gavranović (injury), Bradarić (injury), Vešović (red card) and Maleš (red card) are all sidelined, with commanding defender Župarić (concussion) and left back Zuta (broken temple bone) also doubtful although they resumed training. Right back Stefan Ristovski is another valuable absentee as he left for Sporting Lisbon last week.

The visitors are coming off a 3:1 home win against an unconvincing Hajduk Split who were holding up, despite fatigue and a horrible Futacs injury, until the second goal went in and they crumbled. Dinamo Zagreb are traditionally hard to beat at Maksimir so I was not surprised they got the win, was simply expecting more of Hajduk especially after that brilliant performance against Danish side Brondby.

Apart from the NK Rijeka hospital, Dinamo Zagreb have a clean bill of health coming into this game and we should expect the strongest 11 to be fielded at Rujevica tomorrow.

Games between these two teams are usually filled with aggression, many fouls and controversial referee decisions, but often lacks goals and a one-goal margin USUALLY decides the winner at Rujevica stadium (apart from the 5:2 thrashing from last season). I expect more of the same tomorrow as coach Kek will field a fairly weaker team than usual and Dinamo will do everything to stop Rijeka's impressive home unbeaten streak. They drew 1:1 in their last game at NK Rijeka and points were divided in 4 of their last 6 games in which NK Rijeka were the hosts.

Will Dinamo manage a win? I'm not so sure. They were goal-shy away against a weaker ODD side and managed to score 1 goal away against a rotated NK Osijek. Under 2.5 might be a safer bet, but I am going for a bigger return for this one.

That said, I'm going for a draw here. Good luck.

Maybe Rijeka or draw is a good option?

I saw the game Osejka vs Rijeka. Rijeka was so bad it hard to explain. It mostly possessed the ball and had hard time to handle Osjeka contre-attacks with 8 yellow cards and 2 red cards. It with all those absences hopefully Rijeka would make draw (playing super defensively) or Dinamo Zagreb to win. .Lost . 6 games ticket because of Rijeka and I wish Rijeka to lose today, it deserves.

Seems like the thread is on this post so i just type my view on it here.

Rijeka hasn't lost at home in almost 3 years. It's around 50 matches and that's incredible stats.

Now they struggel a bit more for different reasons. I would avoid this match at all costs.
