Sock vs Ferrer by Marci

We can exect excellent match in 2nd round of Mastes in Montreal where in from Jack Sock will play against declining Spaniard Davi Ferrer. Only reason why I am not playing win for Sock in straight sets is respect for legend David Ferrer andd this will by the way be first time for me to bet against him.

Jack Sock didnt play most of grass and clay part of season and those matches he played , he didnt do much to impress , but on other hand on first part of season on hard court (like this tournament) he excelled and won Auckland and Delray Beach and managed to reach Semi Finals of Indian Wells where he lost against Roger Federer and QF of Miami where Rafael Nadal was better. Now second part of hard court season didnt start as planned where he lost in 2nd match against Kyle Edmund in a match where he served really bad and lost his serve 4 times, but in Washington he really looked good and managed to get to SF beating Raonic in process.

Ferrer started to show some signs of his former play and won ATP in Bastaad with wins against Verdasco and Dolgopolov. On hard court he didnt play since Miami in March where Schwartzman was better, best result was in Australian Open where he used his experience or inexperience of Jasika and Escobero to reach 3rd round (both in 4 sets) before he lost against Bautista. This season he is 4-4 on hard without wins against better ranked players

Former number 3 in the world is one of most hard working players ever , but he is only shadow of what he was earlier and after beating Edmund in first round, this will be end for him here because Sock is one of most improved player this season.

What are you on about if I must ask? Ferrer has won 7 from his last 8 and you dare to use the word "declining"? Well, unless you work for the bookies. Head to Head is 1-1. Both players have a 50/50 chance with Ferrer looking just a tad fresher with games played. If a spade has to be called a spade, with Ferrer winning 7 from his last 8 and you losing 5 of your last 6 tips, the call should really be Ferrer. That is another way of looking at it.

You are looking at one week, have you seen him play 2 months ago or last year? he does not look close to what he was before.
He won matches on his favorite surface (clay) against weak opponents, it is not even similar to his opponent now on this surface
