Edmund vs Ferrer by Stanioooo

1st round in Canadian Masters and a meeting between Kyle Edmund and David Ferrer.

There are two meetings between them in the end of last season and the first one in Antwerp was won by Edmund in three sets, while in Vienna Ferrer won after retirement. Here the situation looks almost the same as the previous match I posted between Young and Paire. The British player played in two hard court tours after Wimbledon, while Ferrer took part in two tours on clay in Europe. So, Edmund should have a big advantage here and the results are with him.

Ferrer won the title in Bastad, Sweden on clay, but then he looked tired and lost early by Delbonis in Hamburg. He had a week to adapt to the hard courts in the USA, but I don't think he is able to give his max. There is almost 13 year difference between them and Edmund has to use that. If he plays aggressively like against Dimitrov, Ferrer won't have a lot of chances. His defense looks poor, when he's not playing on clay courts and has nothing in common with his performance in 2014 or 2015. Edmund's results were really good as he reached the SF in Atlanta, where he lost in three sets to Harrison, while in the 2nd round in Washington Dimitrov beat him in three sets again.

Edmund is capable of winning against Ferrer tonight and if he shows more aggression on the court I'm confident he will progress.
