Mahut vs Fabbiano by Marci
Qualfications for Masters in Montreal are heating up and winners will advance in main tournament. 7th seeded Thomas Fabbiano (91.) after advancing with 2-1 against Hurkacz (360.) will play against Nicolas Mahut (111.) who won in straight sets against Andrew Whittington.
They played 3 times against each other but two are dated back in 2008 and 2010 with both winning once and his 3rd meeting was last week (this week as it is Sunday) in Washington where Mahut won with 6-1 7-6 (3) where he gave Fabbiano only 1 break point chance. Fabbiano is challenger player and most of his season he spent on Asian tour where he won 3 tours last dated in early May. On ATP level he tried 5 times from qualifications and suceeded twice in AO and Eastbourne while Mahut did lose many matches mostly because of trying to go both doubles and singles with 35 years on his back, but he is winning against worse player than him like Fabbiano is and all those were in straight sets (Whittington, Novikov, Mmoh, Bellucci, Pella).
Fabbiano really didnt look good against young Hurkacz and I dont see him getting a set this time either and with Mahut serving bad yesterday and still winning in straight sets
