Mannsdorf vs First Vienna by SPC22

First of all, I hate myself for writing these lines. :D One of my principles is, not to bet any "first round of the season games", but I just can't ignore this game with these odds.

Mannsdorf was one of last season's promoted teams and they did an awesome job with becoming 4th at the end of the season. The club has an amazing success story. Since president Wolfgang Macho leads the club they climbed up league by league. Money isn't a problem for them and they regularly present former professional players and coaches as new signings. The current coach is Herbert Garger, former coach of Bundesliga club Austria Wien. They have many former professional players on their roster: Petermann (goalie, eg Horn, Austria), Nacho Casanova (striker, eg Ried), Freiberger (striker, eg Wr. Neustadt), Haselberger (defender, eg FAC), Salvatore (defender, eg Vienna, Horn) and they also have awesome "unknown" players like Panic, Kreka, Sütcü, Bencun and Gradinger. Mannsdorf really is an experienced team which is able to fight for the championship title. Of course, that will be a really big challenge for them, but for many experts Mannsdorf is one of the secret favorites.

First Vienna FC probably had the craziest season of their loooooong history. They were rocking the league like they didn't for a long time and in the winter break everybody knew that they will win the championship. But then they got punished by the league for making a lot of financial mistakes and the league told the club that they are not allowed to play in the Regionalliga in 2017/18. Therefore the team decided to do the best in this situation which was meant to win the championship. And they did win it. A short time after the end of last season the situation changed a 180° because the court decided that the club is allowed to play in Regionalliga. After another few weeks another court decided that the league was right and First Vienna is NOT allowed to play in Regionalliga. And because it's so funny the supreme court decided that First Vienna is ALLOWED to play in Regionalliga. THAT'S AUSTRIAN FOOTBALL. :D :D :D Long story short: Although they managed to save their financial things and they got a new main sponsor (the huge insurance company UNIQA), First Vienna had to let go many good players. For example Schibany (Amstetten), Toth, Csandl (both Horn), Sahintürk (Austria Amateure), Sütcü (Mannsdorf), Kostic (Rapid Amateure). In the preseason the team didn't have the best results. Especially one game is a good comparison to Mannsdorf: Mannsdorf defeated Kagran 6:0 and Vienna just got a 1:1 draw. OK, I know it's difficult to compare two games, but there's a big difference between those two results and it shows that Mannsdorf a step further than First Vienna.

Also a good indicator is that the coaching staff of First Vienna tries to soft-pedal because they have a young team and it'll need some time till things will work out like the coaches want them to do. Mannsdorf had some great results lately. They defeated Karabakh Wien (Regionalliga) 4:0 and had a great cup fight against Wolfsberger AC (Bundesliga) which they lost 1:2 in a very close game.

All in all it seems that Mannsdorf is a step further than First Vienna and chances to beat Vienna are much higher than last season. Therefore I'll take this opportunity for really good odds. Mannsdorf to win it is. :)
